My maternal grandmother grew up on the prairie in South Dakota. As I grew so did my curiosity for who my grandmother was a little girl. On a phone call, I sketched in my backyard as she told me tales of growing up in a sod house, working hard everyday and wearing handmade floral dresses made from flour bags. This painting is about being from her and of her. A Princess of the Prairie.
